Three Things to Work on For a Stronger Core
When you think of a stronger core, what do you think of? A six-pack or abs of steel?
The core actually refers to the four layers of the abdominal wall- the transverse abdominus, the rectus abdominus, the internal obliques, and the external obliques.
You need these muscles to be strong in order to stand up, sit up, rotate, and basically every movement that we do as human beings.
In turn, we need to work on the following:
1) Anti-lateral flexion,
2) Anti- extension, and
3) Anti-rotation.
To improve anti-extension, you want to work on ab wheels, deadbugs, and exercises that prevents the extension of the spine.
Anti-lateral Flexion will prevent misalignment of the hips via side planks or loaded carries.
Anti rotation exercises could be palloff presses and plank shoulder taps.
